Retail/Hospitality Premises Discount


England

  • Certain premises used for the sale of goods, food or drink or the provision of services to visiting members of the public with a rateable value of less than £51,000 can secure a discount, subject to state aid limits. There are a number of ineligible types of businesses where retail relief will not be applied.
  • During the COVID-19 outbreak, additional support in 2020/2021 is being provided. All occupied retail, leisure and hospitality businesses will receive 100% relief in 2020/2021.

Wales

  • The High Street Rates Relief scheme provides relief to eligible high street retailers occupying premises with an RV of £50,000 or less, subject to state aid limits.
  • During the COVID-19 outbreak, the Welsh Government is providing support in 2020/2021 to help businesses in Wales. All occupied retail, leisure and hospitality businesses with a rateable value of £500,000 or below will receive 100% relief in 2020/2021.

Scotland

  • From 1 April 2017 those businesses in the hospitality sector who, as a result of the revaluation, are facing steep increases, will see those increases capped at 12.5%. The types of business that will qualify will include hotels, pubs, restaurants, cafes and other accommodation subject to state aid limits.
  • During the COVID-19 outbreak, the Scottish Government is providing support in 2020/2021 to help businesses in Scotland. All occupied retail, hospitality, leisure and aviation businesses will receive 100% relief in 2020/2021.
